below is all that is legible to read although odd letters survive.

This now has the new plaque on but probably originally had an inscription.

4th son of 6th Viscount Melville
He gave up everything for
King and Country
and in the performance of his duty
died most bravely and unselfishly
fighting in Gallipoli
7th August 1915 Aged 33 years
He lies buried there on Lala Baba
now called by his devoted men
Dundas Point
This tablet is placed to his memory
by his affectionate sister
